The only reason I've removed a star is because it's very expensive for my budget (even though I'm sure it's reasonably priced relative to others with similar ingredients and production methods). I'm in perimenopause, dealing with persistent brain fog related to that. My diet falls far short of the recommended 500mg of choline per day for perimenopausal women, and it's simply not an option for me to alter my diet to the extent I would need to to meet that recommendation. So, I was taking citicoline to try to address my brain fog, but found that I got terrible headaches from it, and the effect it had felt a bit stimulant-like and foreign, so much so that I couldn't take more than 100mg per day (I'd still get a headache, but it was manageable). At that point, I decided to try to find a food-derived choline supplement, because my system tends to process food-derived supplements and vitamins without the side effects I experience with synthetically derived ones, and that's how I found this one. I love this supplement. I don't experience any side effects. It feels a lot gentler to my system than the citicoline did (there's no stimulant feel to it). I have no problem taking 200mg at a time, and the effect it has on my brain fog feels more like "me" rather than a drug (which is what I associate with the "foreign" feeling I got from citicoline). It hasn't eliminated my brain fog, but it's helped noticeably. It might help more if I could afford to take two pills per day, but it's just too expensive for me to do that consistently. (Sometimes I take two a day, but I only allow myself to do it once a week.) Because of how much it's helped, I feel like it's a necessary addition to my daily routine. The only con is that it's expensive. I realize that that's probably because it's more expensive to make than synthetic choline, but it still makes it significantly challenging for me to purchase regularly, as a disabled person on a very limited budget.
