Heard about this coffee alternative from Huberman lab podcast and took the advice to make sure to buy the unsmoked version. I like the flavor and the easy prep since you just need to drop the tea bag into hot water. Caffeine boost is very subtle but effective, no sudden palpitations or jitters, just more overall focus and energy. Will repurchase.
First time trying this brand of organic Yerba Mate tea bags. The company has very eco practices & seems high quality. I just received my order and haven’t tried yet, but my preference is to make a large pot with 6-7 bags, cool it and refrigerate it in a bottle, then drink it throughout the day when I want/need some extra energy. I like the way Yerba Mate isn’t overpowering and just keeps energy levels even for better productivity. This brand also offered a smaller size box instead of the 70+ bags from the other company I usually buy.
Pros: 1. Rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. 2. Smooth, gentle caffeine boost. 3. Low in tannins so can be enjoyed without bitterness or astringency. 4. Health benefits such as stimulating mental clarity and aiding digestion. 5. Stimulates energy and alertness without the "jitters" associated with coffee consumption. Cons: 1. High levels of caffeine can increase anxiety and heart rate when consumed in large amounts over time. 2. Excessive consumption may lead to dehydration due to its diuretic effects or cause insomnia if drank late at night. 3. Can interact with certain medications, including some antibiotics, antidepressants, and blood thinners due to the high levels of caffeine it contains. 4. Overconsumption may also lead to an increased risk of developing cancers of the mouth, throat, and esophagus due to nitrosamine compounds found within yerba mate
